Lost wax casting- how it works.

Do you have an idea of a jewelry design but not sure how it will look? Maybe you have some outdated jewelry and want to update the design using your gemstones and gold. Whether you have a design in mind or need help figuring out the the best design for you, I can help!

Use your current jewelry and update! We can use your current gemstones and gold to create a new up to date piece of jewelry. The best part is it saves you money by doing this! You can also trade in your jewelry to create a new piece that will be loved for decades.

Brainstorming! When I first meet with you, I will ask questions to get an idea of styles you like or what you would like to end up with. I can then help you come up with a design based on the jewelry designs that you like. At this time I can also give you an estimate on how much the final jewelry piece will cost.

The Wax

Once you have the design you like, we can then create a wax by hand carving it or using CAD, it depends on the design. Once the wax is completed, we meet again to make sure it is what your were thinking of. At this time we can still easily make changes to it. Once I get your approval we can then cast the wax into silver, gold, or platinum.

Casting

The wax is then set up to be casted. It is placed into an oven at 1200 degrees for a few hours until the wax is burned out and we are left with a mold of the jewelry. Once the wax is completely burned out, the precious metal of your choice is melted and poured into the the mold that was left behind from the wax.

Setting and Polishing

The jewelry is then brought life by being filed, polished, and the stones are set. The jewelry has one last final polish after the stones are set. If you are having a white gold jewelry made it has once last process of rhodium plating. It’s now ready to show off to all your friends and family!
